|Good morning to all our Christian brothers and sisters,
I have been reading through the Word of God always including some Psalms and
wisdom from Proverbs. I had already read chapters 6-7 of Revelation but I heard the
Lord say, ‘read chapters 6-7 in Revelation’; so I began reading and what popped off
the pages was this one phrase in Revelation 6:17:
Who Is Able To Stand?
The minute I heard those words my mind went to Psalms 24:3 where it says:
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place?
The answer came in verses 4-5 of Psalm 24:
….he who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an
idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, and
righteousness from the God of his salvation.
Then I was drawn to Psalm 15:1:
Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?
And the answer came again in verses 2-5:
He who walks uprightly and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart;
he who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor does
he take up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but he honors those who fear the Lord; he who swears to his own hurt and does not
change; he who does not put out his money at usury. Nor does he take a bribe
against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
This by no means says we have to be perfect, although we are to strive to be like
Jesus more and more every day, but it does say we must be clean outside (clean
hands) and inside (pure heart) to enter the presence of our God. We are all God’s
creation but only certain ones are allowed to be in his presence; those who have
purified themselves inside and out by the Blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ our
Redeemer, God’s only Son.
You are probably asking yourself, “Who is able to stand?” Well I’m glad you asked.
In Psalm 24:6 it continues with further information and explanation:
This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face. Selah
This passage took me back to Genesis 32:22-32 where Jacob wrestled with a Man of
God until he received a blessing. Here is where Jacob’s prevailing changed him
‘inside’ and out. His name was no longer Jacob, which means supplanter/deceiver,
but was changed to Israel, which means Prince with God (He strives with God).
Jacob wanted so much to be changed from deceiver to receiver, not only for
himself but for his descendants, that he was willing to do whatever it took. If that
meant he was to stay on his knees wrestling with God all night….so be it….he was
determined to receive a blessing….he was determined to prevail until God
answered his prayer.
I believe this verse was put in the Scripture as a map showing us what to do to
receive the anointing, the cleansing, the sanctification needed to stand in God’s
holy place. We cannot do it in ourselves because our flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41)
but God….I love saying that….but God can supernaturally sanctify us spiritually
through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. Now you say, ‘But, as the Scripture says:
‘the flesh is weak’ how do I stand? I’m glad you asked again.
My first answer is: Come before Him DAILY in prayer and fill your mind and spirit
with His Word. The Scripture says it this way; listen and understand what the rest of
Psalm 24:7-10 says:
Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the
King of glory shall come in. who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting
doors! And the King of glory shall come in. who is the King of glory? The LORD of
hosts, He is the King of glory.
Listening to this Scripture says so much….Encourage yourselves in His Word. You
will find He IS your General of generals….the battles are His not yours! He IS
stronger and greater than any problem, situation, trial or temptation you’ll ever
have. He says here LIFT UP YOUR HEAD AND KNOW WHO LIVES IN YOU!
Now in saying that let us go a little further and see who it is that lives ‘inside’ us. In
St. John 14:15-17 it says:
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the father, and He will give
you another Helper (Comforter) that He may abide with you forever., the Spirit of
truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him;
but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be ‘in’ you….”
The blessing continues on in verses 19-20:
“A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me
because I live, you will live also, at that day you will know that I am in My Father, and
you in Me, and I in you…..”
It is because of ‘who’ lives ‘in’ you that you can come into the presence of our
LORD. He who lives in us is all power, all righteousness, all knowing, all love, peace
and joy. He is so much more than we can imagine…..so much more than we can
think or believe…..HE IS THE ALPHA and OMEGA….the FIRST and the LAST….the
BEGINNING and the END….KING of kings and LORD of lords.
In Genesis 1:1 it says:
In the beginning GOD…..! In St. John 1:1-2 it says:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
Now listen to verses 3-4:
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was
made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
In Revelation 1:8 Jesus Himself tells us who He is:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is
and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”…….God’s power and authority
This Jesus who lives in us through the Holy Spirit (John 14:16) left His throne in
glory, came to earth born of a virgin (Luke 1:1:30-35), lived as we do, ministered,
died, showed Himself to over 500 people, over a period of 40 days, (Acts 1:3, I
Corinthians 15:6) infallible proof that He had risen from the grave victorious over
death. He now sits at the right hand of Father God interceding for all mankind
(Romans 8:34)…..this same Jesus abides with us and ‘in’ us promising never to
leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5, Matthews 28:20).
I could go on and on and on but I think you get the message. The Lord Himself says
it best in these four Scriptures:
John 14:1-3: Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also…”
I Thessalonians 14-17: For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so
God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word
of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no
means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we
shall always be with the Lord.
I John 4:4: You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He
who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
John 16:33: These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In
the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
I’m sure you can think of many, many other Scriptures to fill in here…..do so and
quote them reminding yourselves daily of the awesome power and authority you
have in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God…..our blessed Redeemer, Lord
HE lives INSIDE you!
Blessings to all from
