“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4. Psalm 65: 1-3 “Praise is awaiting You, O God , in Zion, and to You the vow shall be performed. O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come. Iniquities prevail against me, as for our transgressions, You will provide atonement for them.” It is time to praise God, to lift our voices and praise Him. All of our sins, outward and inward, He has provided atonement for. What is that atonement? I’m so glad you asked, it is Jesus, His son. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23-24 Thank you Father for Jesus! We cannot work hard or pray long enough to find forgiveness for our sins. God sent His Son to pay the price once and for all. PRAISE HIM. We are forgiven Alleluia! The gap between us and God has been restored, Jesus is the bridge. My friends if you do not know Jesus, or have never asked Him to forgive you it is sooooo easy: “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10 (to read more please go to the page on reconciliation). Let’s continue reading Psalm 65. This Psalm, written by David, was sung at harvest time. Thanking God for salvation and for the provisions. “Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts, we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple. By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the far-off seas; who established the mountains by His strength, being clothed with power, You who still the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples. They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs; You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice. You visit the earth and water it, you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water: you provide their grain, for so You have prepared it. You water its ridges abundantly, you settle its furrows; You make it soft with showers, You bless its growth. You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance. They drop on the pastures of the wilderness, and the little hills rejoice on every side. The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered with grain; they shout for joy, they also sing. Psalm 65: 4-13 Can’t you just hear the people singing this Psalm? It is harvest time and they are so thankful for all God has done. When this was written by David and sung by the people, Jesus had not been born, but they knew, and had faith in God that He would provide the atonement, just has He had given them this great harvest. Today, Jesus has come and made atonement, paid the price, for our sins. Now we can rejoice and Praise God. Verse 11 says: “You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.” Dear Friends, we have so much to be thankful for. Praise God forevermore. There is a time that all of God’s children come to together and worship Him, giving Him praise for all His wonderful works. It can be a prayer meeting, or church, or wherever 2 or more are gathered. Verses 1 through 13 of Psalm 66 sing of that. “Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious. Say to God, how awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; they shall sing praises to Your name. Selah Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. He turned the sea into dry land; they went through the river on foot, there we will rejoice in Him. He rules by His power forever; His eyes observe the nations; do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah Oh, bless our God, you peoples! And make the voice of His praise to be heard, who keeps our soul among the living, and does allow our feet to be moved. For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; you laid affliction on our backs. You have cause men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; but Your brought us out to rich fulfillment. I will go into Your house with burnt offerings.” What wonderful words to remind us to Praise God, to shout, to sing, to rejoice in all He has brought us through. Look at verse 12: “You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; but You brought us out to rich fulfillment.” They were remembering where God had brought them from. Where have you been? Have you been through fire? Praise Him for bringing you through. Are you going through fire now? Praise Him because He will bring you through to rich fulfillment. The key is praise. The last part of verse 13 says: “I will pay You my vows.” The word vows means: promised deeds. What did you promise God you would do? Be sure to fulfill those promises. The last verses of this Psalm are a personal testimony. Verse 14 begins with a promise to fulfill the vows. Let’s read together. “ Which my lips have uttered and my mouth has spoken when I was in trouble. I will offer You burnt sacrifices of fat animals. With the sweet aroma of rams; I will offer bulls with goats. Selah Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul. I cried to Him with my mouth, and He was extolled with my tongue. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear. But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me!” Now, of course, we do not offer burnt sacrifices any longer. We bring our offerings to the Lord, whatever they may be; our time and talents to further the kingdom. Our time in studying the Word of God, coming together to worship, praying for the sick, and whatever God may ask us to do. Our talents: singing, helps ministry, etc…… The verses also speak of not holding iniquity in our hearts; that is unforgiveness, if someone has hurt you, forgive them. The scripture says, if we hold on to it God will not hear us. Ask the Lord to help you, and lay it at His feet. Forgiveness, dear one, is not a feeling it is a choice. Choose today to forgive. Read with me again the last 2 verses of this Psalm: “ But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me!” When we forgive these verses give us the assurance God hears and gives us His mercy. Mercy, unmerited favor…something we don’t deserve, or could ever work for. Let’s join together in praise to God for salvation, provision, and tell the world of all His wonderful works. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME FOREVER AND EVER!! Blessings to all |
