The sound of this generation will sing a new song:
Unity  is the Key to Victory

While praying the Lord brought the parable about the ten (10) virgins to my mind.

(emphasis by me)

Matthew 25:1-13
Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet
the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their
lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the
bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard ‘behold the
bridegroom is coming; go out to meet Him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And
the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise
answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell,
and buy for yourselves.’  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready
went in with Him to the wedding, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying,
‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But He answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch
therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

You probably won’t be shouting as we study this lesson and some of us will probably get our toes
stepped on, but……then again you might enjoy it if you are one of the wise virgins, who have prepared
themselves for the appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

You may also SHOUT because the Lord has reminded you if you were slumbering to get ready. (His love
letters are love reminders as well as warnings.)

I truly believe that we are living in the last days, just before our Lord returns for His church. I believe God
is calling us back to His way of living; that this is a warning, and an encouragement to remember where
we came from and who we belong to.

In Isaiah chapter 6 we see what the prophet felt when he entered into the Holiness of God. He was a
prophet yet he felt unclean and unworthy.

Isaiah 6:1-5
…..I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. Above it stood
seraphim; each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with
two he flew. And one cried to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is
full of His glory!’ and the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the
house was filled with smoke. So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean
lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of

In chapters 52 of Isaiah we hear words like Awake! Awake! And in chapter 58 we hear Cry aloud,
Spare not, Lift up your voice, Arise, Shake yourself.  Also In the Book of Matthew we hear Watch! and
in Revelation we hear the words, ‘Behold I come quickly!’ If we knew the day or hour a thief would
come to break in and steal from us, we would prepare, put on our battle armor, and fortify ourselves.

Isaiah 52:1-2
Awake! Awake! Put on your strength, O Zion, put on your beautiful garments O Jerusalem, the holy
city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no longer come to you. Shake yourself from the dust,
arise, sit down, O Jerusalem! Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion!
(Notice: these are things for ‘you and I’ to do)

Isaiah 58:1
Cry aloud, Spare not. Lift up your voice like a trumpet, tell My people their transgressions, and the
house of Jacob their sins.

Matthew 24:42-44
Watch! Therefore for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master
of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his
house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do
not expect.

Revelation 22:7,12 and 17
V7) “Behold I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

V12) “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to
his work.”

V17) and the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who
thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

Over and over throughout the Word we are told to be careful, to Watch and Pray; to Awake and be
Sober, because our adversary, the devil is out to destroy us.

I Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom
he may devour.

Throughout the ‘Old’ and ‘New’ Testaments, we hear again and again, warnings to ‘get ready’ and
‘repent’, for the Lord is coming back, coming back for a people who are ‘watching’ and ‘waiting’; A
people who have put on their spotless garments, ‘looking’ for their Bridegroom to appear.

Ezekiel 13:6
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent, and turn yourselves from your
idols; and turn away your face from all your abominations.

Revelation 2:1-5
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; these things says He that holds the seven stars in His
right hand…….I know your works, and your labor, and your patience…..nevertheless I have somewhat
against you, because you have left your ‘first love'. Remember therefore from whence you are fallen,
and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto you quickly, and will remove your
candlestick out of his place, except you repent.

Ephesians 5:27
That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but
that it should be holy and without blemish.

And you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that
when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the
Master, when He comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird Himself and have
them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.

Holiness is not a ‘title’, a name of a ‘church, organization’ or a ‘religion’. It is God’s way to live. Holiness
means: Consecrated, sound, whole, belonging to God, spiritually perfect or pure, untainted by evil or sin,
set apart.  Now let’s see if the Word agrees with the New World Dictionary.

I Peter 1:16
But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy,
for I am holy.”

I Thessalonians 4:7
For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject
man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:27
That He might present her to Himself a glorious church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing,
but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Colossians 1:22
….in the body of His flesh through death to present you holy, and blameless…..

II Corinthians 11:2
For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Again I say God’s Holy Spirit is calling us back to Holiness, one more time He is saying: Be watchful, be
alert, be careful, do not follow man’s laws, but search the Word for yourselves. Put on God’s armor…..
stand firm, and pray for one another.

In the day we are living in, the Lord warns us that there will be a way that seems right, but the end is
destruction. We must be watchful, ‘drink in the Word’ of the Lord, so we will not be deceived. Jesus
also says that if we thirst we shall be filled and He is the water that quenches that thirst. Here are some
scriptures on feasting on the Words of Life and drinking in Living Water……Jesus Christ our Lord and
Savior. It is our weapon, our sword in war!

Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end of the way is death.

I Peter 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have
tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Acts 17:10-11
Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they
went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that
they received the word with all readiness and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these
things were so.

II Timothy 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the Word of Truth.

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

John 6:35
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who
believes in Me shall never thirst.”

John 4:9-14
Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, ‘How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a
Samaritan woman?’ For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus answered and said to her, “If
you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him,
and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw
with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?.....Jesus answered and said to her,
“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will
never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into
everlasting life.”

Do you see how the Weapons of our warfare work? We are to follow our example, Jesus. When the
enemy came after Him, He had hidden The Word inside and He used it against His enemy…..He quoted

Now we are closer than ever before to our Lord’s return and He is blowing the trumpets, one more time
He is waving the flags. One more time He is calling His people back to Holiness…..without holiness no
man shall see God. Watch that we do not fall into legalism; that we do not follow man made rules and

Hebrews 12:9-14
Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: Shall
we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days
chastened us after their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness.
Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: Nevertheless afterward it yields
the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the
hands which hang down and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is
lame be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed, follow peace with all men, and holiness
without which no man shall see the Lord.

This is not to say that all our churches are full of legalistic leaders. No, No, No, but we must be very
careful not to follow rules made by man. A lot of well meaning leaders have put chains (rules) around
their people believing it to protect them; when in fact it puts them in bondage. The dictionary says
‘legalism’ means: Strict, often too strict and literal, adherence to law, code or doctrine.

Some may say, ‘Well that seems to be what God is saying……do it my way or else. No! No! No, my
friends; God is a God of liberty and freedom. He is a God of variety, a God for everyone. He has no limits
accept what we put on Him. I pray you understand what I’m trying to say. God is tired of our 1, 2, 3’s:
Songs, offering, prayer and sermon and be out by 12pm.  God wants us to be free to worship Him. His
house is a House of Prayer; a place to Rest, a place to refresh, and be restored, and be revived in Him.
Sometimes our rules and timetables restrict us from realizing/remembering this.

Remember the freedom of the ‘first’ church? They realized that all they had was given to them from the
Lord and they would give according to the needs of each family. They worshipped together, went house
to house, praising and worshipping God; they had all things common…..were in unity of mind, spirit and
purpose. Is this what we see in our churches today? Do we take time for God….each other….or are we
too busy doing it our way?

Matthew 21:13
And He said to them, “It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a
den of thieves.”

Acts 4:32
Now the multitude of those who believed ‘were of one heart and one soul;’ neither did anyone say that
any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

Acts 2:46
So continuing daily with ‘one accord’ in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate
their food with gladness and simplicity of heart. Praising God and having favor with all the people.

We must be alert to His Holy Spirit and what He wants to do in each one of our services……we must be
sure we allow Him to have control; because He knows the need of the people better than we do.

Let us learn from God’s chosen nation, the children of Israel. May we listen and obey as we see what
they did and what God’s reaction was/is:

1)     Often rebelled against God

2)     Each time they allowed themselves to turn from God they got into trouble

3)     When they repented, God’s mercy always reached out to them

Let us benefit from their mistakes….let us repent and begin anew with our Lord.

The Webster Dictionary’s definition for rebellion is: Defiance/opposition to any authority, open

The Bible dictionary says: It is as the sin of witchcraft.

I Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry……..

Throughout the Word, God tells us to ‘separate’ ourselves from the world. We are to be different. We
are not to follow man’s ways, but God’s ways. That is what will cause people to see Jesus in us and
want to join Christ’s family. He says we are to:

1)     Pursue holiness

2)     Worship in holiness

3)     Walk in holiness

4)     Seek God’s answers, not man’s and

5)     To learn from our mistakes

Isaiah 1:18-20 (pursue holiness)
Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be
as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and
obedient you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the
sword. Thus says the Lord.

Isaiah 6:1-8 (Worship in holiness)
…..I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered
his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of His glory! And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who
cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a
man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the
King, the Lord of hosts.’ Then one of the seraphim flew to me; having in his hand a live coal which he
had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said, ‘Behold, this has
touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.’ Also I heard the voice of the Lord,
saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’  Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.”

Isaiah 35:8-10 (Walk in holiness)
A highway shall be there, and a road; and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall
not pass over it, but it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray.
No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it; it shall not be found there. But the
redeemed shall walk there, and the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing,
with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall
flee away.

Isaiah 8:18-20 (Seek God for answers not man)
Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel From
the Lord of hosts, who dwells in Mount Zion. And when they say to you, seek those who are mediums
and wizards, who whisper and mutter, Should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead
on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is
because there is no Light in them.

Isaiah 30:16-17 (Learn from Israel’s mistakes)
And you said, ‘No, for we will flee on horses”. Therefore you shall flee! And, “We will ride on swift
horses”. Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift! One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, at
the threat of five you shall flee, till you are left as a tree stripped of branches on top of a mountain and
as a banner on a hill.

Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this
world: But be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and
acceptable and perfect will of God.

Ephesians 5:27
That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but
that it should be holy and without blemish.

I Peter 2:1-5
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as
new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby: If indeed you have
tasted that the Lord is gracious to whom coming as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but
chosen of God, and precious. You also as lively stones are built up a spiritual house and holy
priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

I Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should
show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Romans 6:12-14
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield
you your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: But yield yourselves unto God, as
those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For
sin shall not have dominion over you: For you are not under the law, but under grace.

Isaiah 62:12
And they shall call them, the holy people; The redeemed of the Lord.

We are going to end this week’s lesson here for you to reflect upon all that has been said and to see
where you fit in.

Does your heart still burn within you at the name of Jesus the Christ, the Anointed One? Or are you
walking afar off…..needing to be revived and regenerated?

God knows your heart today and He knows how to repair it if it needs healing. Let Him bless you with
heavenly blessings, let Him lift your spirit up to His Spirit.
