Eagles Wings

Part II

We are continuing from last week. If you need to refresh, please find Part I in the Archives. We were
discussing the difference between eagles and chickens….comparing them to Christians.

Since becoming a Christian you have been very active in church and worship services…but all of the
sudden things begin to change, you do not feel comfortable anymore and you begin searching for why.
It is probably not something you have done or anyone else it is God stirring up the nest, He wants to
take you higher, higher where you can see what He sees.

If it seems that God is dealing harshly with you remember you asked to have a closer walk with Him.
Doubt no longer, but accept it by faith, for the next great work of God to come forth in your life.  It is not
the wrath of God trying to destroy you; it is His love that wants to draw you closer.   It is the love and
wisdom of our God making you willing to take another big step in the plan and purpose of God for His

Does the place in God that once met such a need in your life now seem rough, tight, and
uncomfortable? Do the jagged edges of that which was once such a comfort to you now stab you with
grief and pain?  Have you been wondering what the trouble was and perhaps doubt that you were even
in the will of God? You ask, “What is happening?” It is His way of tear up your soft, comfortable nest.
The Lord is getting ready to push you off to heights that you never dreamed of.

We, by nature, love security.  So the Lord has to make us utterly sick of our ‘nest’ in order to make us
willing to launch out into pioneer spiritual journey’s in the heavenlys.  This is what I’m feeling….how
about you?

Still the stubborn young eagles do not leave the torn up nest.  So the mother eagle begins

to ‘flutter   over her young’.  In other words, she begins beating him/her with her wings, the wings
under which he/she once hid from all danger now, it seems, become his/her greatest enemy. What a
terrible turn of events!  To

escape those terrible wings, he climbs to the side of the nest,

and as she spreads her wings abroad, he/she hops upon her back. Now where

she goes he/she goes   for the nest has ceased to be the safe, warm home it once was.  I can see the
mother eagle as she soars high into the sky, with the little eagle hanging on for dear life.  Higher and
higher above the clouds she goes, and suddenly, without warning, she dives out from under the
little eagle, leaving   him/her hanging on to nothing  sounds awfully familiar to me.  He screams with
fear as he tumbles through the air, but instinctively his/ her wings stretch out and begin trying to catch
the air.

Down, down, down, he falls as the unfamiliar flapping of his/her wings fail to function enough to hold
him up.  When it looks like all hope is lost and he is about to crash on the rocks below, the mother
eagle swoops under him and bears

him up on her wings. Now that sounds just like my Lord!  What a relief!  Back into the heights of heaven
they soar…on her wings, the bottom drops out again.  This time his wings begin to operate a little
better, become a little stronger.  Finally, with an almost-loud screech he catches the currents of air
and soars all by himself. He no longer needs his/her mother to catch him/her from falling.

Psalm 91:11-12: For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their
hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Isaiah 49:2: “And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of His hand He has hidden
Me, and made Me a polished shaft; in His quiver He has hidden Me.”

From beginning to end the Lord never leaves His children to fight alone. The Lord always keeps an eye
upon His children, praise His holy name forevermore.

This part is very sad…but so true…we try and try but sometimes His people just won’t listen…

Sometimes there is a little eagle that is taken from the nest and refuses to fly.  He/she will not try
his/her wings; they love the security of mom and are satisfied with status-quo.  He/she just waits each
time until the mother eagle catches him and bears him back up to the heavens on her wings.

Time and again the process is repeated until the mother eagle is convinced that there is no hope for
him, that she cannot teach him/her to launch out on her/his own.  Now if he/she were a chicken,
someone would watch over him, feed him, protect him, pamper him/her and say, ‘there, there now it
will all be ok.’ Now we are commanded to watch over the weaker Christian, but if they refuse to grow
when the enemy comes in like a flood they will not understand how to fight.

Hebrews 5:13-14: for everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for
he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use
have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

I Peter 2:2-3: …newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed
you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Acts 20:35: I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And
remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Romans 15:1-2: We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please
ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

Not so with the eagle.  Either he learns to soar for himself or he starves to death, or becomes a prey of
wild beasts.  Knowing this, the mother eagle takes him high

into the heavens for one last ride.  Then with a wild screech of

pain and disappointment,   she dives out from under
him and flies away, leaving hi to drop to his death below and/or be eaten by the enemy.   Eagle saints
have a special training all their own.  The flutter of God’s wings makes us think sometimes that He is
going to beat us to death.  But the Bible says that if we do not receive His chastisement, it is a good
sign that we are not His sons or daughters for those we love we correct.

Hebrews 12:5-6: …”My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor be discouraged when you
are rebuked by Him; for whom the LORD loves He chastens….

When we are finally willing to leave the nest, trusting completely upon Him, then He takes us in heights
of glory never before experienced.  Well, everything seems to be wonderful, and we are rejoicing in our
new and glorious experiences.  Then suddenly the bottom drops out, and he is not there
(so we think).
As we drop from the dizzying heights of glory to the depths of gloom and despair. We flop our feeble
wings desperately and unsuccessfully, and wonder why God has left us to perish like this. Through
experiences like this
(The rise to heights and drops to gloom) He has shown me, He is closer than my
breath. Thank You Lord for not giving up on me!
Suddenly, He is there!  And as He bears us on ‘eagles’ wing back into the heavens, our strength and joy
returns- only to find that the process must be repeated, over and over, until finally we find ourselves
able to use our God given, ‘wings’ and be sustained on high by the power of His strength within. And
when we cannot we are able to hide under His wings of grace and mercy.

Psalm 17:8: Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hade me under the shadow of Your wings….

Psalm 91:4: He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge, His truth
shall be your shield and buckler

Praise His Holy Name!!!!

But some refuse to move into this realm.  They rebel against the processing of God.  They resent being
placed in the ‘furnace of fire’.  They love the nest on high, the safety of His wings, but they despise the
chastening, the discipline, and the necessity of learning to stand alone in the heavenlys.  He is patient.
He is longsuffering.  He works with them, giving them chance after chance.  But some will not learn,
will not yield their rebellious spirits to His will.  So He finally leaves them to fall to destruction on the
jagged rocks of a carnal earthy nature.

I Corinthians 3:1-3: And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to
babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it,
and even now you are still not able, for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and
divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

Luke 9:62: But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back is fit for
the kingdom of God.”

You have seen them, and so have I.  And I have wondered how that those who once soared among the
stars could have fallen so low and come to such an end.  How could some who have had such
revelation, such marvelous gifts, and ministries, have come to the place where they could accept such
blasphemous doctrines of devils?  How could they cheapen their ministry and sell out the gift of God
for fame and fortune?  Sadly we know it has happened.  It does not make the true revelation of the
Spirit any less true.  Nor does it take away from the reality of the gift(s) God had given them.

It would have been better if they had remained as chickens, in the safety of the barnyard.  But they had
prayed to be eagles, and God answered.  But the test had brought out the rebellious nature that would
not submit wholly to the dealing and discipline of the Holy Ghost. And they fell. Let me say this….God’s
hand is always outstretched to the backslider, always wanting to remove the veil of deception placed
by satan.

I John 2:1-2: My little children these things I write to you, so that you may not sin, and if anyone sins, we
have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our
sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

Hebrews 7:25: Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him,
since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Romans 11:29: For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

I believe it is God’s will for us to seek a higher place in HIM, but we must not try to go out there without
His testing and training and correction. We must not think because we have seen how others do it we
can do it without His help. The damage we do to others cannot be expressed and will not go
unpunished by the Holy Godhead.

Matthew 18:6-7: “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be
better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the
offense comes!

My prayer daily is: Jesus I ask to stay humbled at Your feet that I will not fall and be quick to repent
from evil. Cleanse my thought and open my ears to hear Your smallest whisper. Sanctify me wholly
and cover me with Your blood, Word and Love that I might not sin against You. May I decrease as You
increase. I surrender all I am and all I can become. I dedicate and consecrate my strength, mind, heart,
soul and will into Your service. Amen

A chicken may fall off his perch, or off the chicken house, but he never really falls far because he
never rises to great heights.  But when an eagle falls, he falls alone and hard, and is seen by many.  But
it is necessary, for there must be no rebels among those who make their nests on the tops of the
mountains and soar above the storm clouds. Eagles do that you know. They do not run and hide from a
storm they use it to climb higher and higher until they are flying high above the storm. Awesome

Those who rule with Christ must rule from the heavens.  For that is where the throne is.  The chicken
yard is very confining.  You can go so far, and no farther.

I see the world and all in it as ‘one’. I minister to all creation….not just one part. My message is simple,
Love one another, step out of your comfort zone and minister to the world….My peace, joy and love
seen through your loving each other.

John 13:34-35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you
also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Not so the eagles: No chicken yard could hold him/her.  Put him/her in a cage where he/she will wither
and die.  He/she can only find happiness in the freedom of the uncovered heavens.  There is lots of
room where the eagles gather.  Truth flows like a mighty river.  No creeds, bylaws, or rigid statement
of beliefs to separate the Body of Christ
(please don’t take and run with this statement, of course we
need order-those who walk in the Spirit do not need to be told not to break the law.)

Lots to think about, Huh? We will have the final part to this message next week.
