FACTS ABOUT ANGELS AND
DEMONS-Demons
Part I
Good morning friends and co-workers in Christ. Boy I do not mind telling you I have
had a hard time getting to write this lesson down; the enemy does not want it
known who they are and the power we as Christians have over them. I have done a
lot of studying through internet and other sources. In all my studies I have asked
the Holy Spirit to show me truth; I have gone to the Scriptures to verify and
understand what I did not comprehend.

Before I start I want to re-affirm that satan and all his demonic forces cannot control
people who have the blood of Jesus Christ applied to their lives. Satan nor any of
his demons have any authority over Christians!

(All scriptures may be emphasized/dissected by me for clarification
All Scripture reference is NKJV, New Spirit Filled Life Bible, unless otherwise noted)

John 8:36: “therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed…”

Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you…..”

Ephesians 1:19-22: ….and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us
who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which
He worked in
Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand
in the
heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and
every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And
He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the
church.

Colossians 2:6-10: As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in
Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been
taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through
philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the
basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For
in Him dwells all the
fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all
principality and power.

Awesome, awesome Scriptures re-affirming our authority over satan and all his
followers.

There is one exception: If one who has accepted Christ refuses to give up a part of
their life; they can be tormented and possibly fall from grace. We must surrender all
in Jesus. When we do not totally surrender we leave a door cracked so the enemy
can wiggle his way back into our lives.

Matthew 12:43-44: “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry
places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house form
which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order
(Did not
seek God for strength)
. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more
wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man
is worse than toe first….

That is why so many Christians do not enjoy total joy and peace in their lives; they
do not have the total liberty spoken of. That is why they do not enjoy all spiritual
blessings promised by the Lord. When they do not totally surrender it leaves a
place for doubt and confusion to form. The Word says that Jesus gave us His peace
and He fulfills our joy that whom He sets free is free indeed but we must surrender
ALL to Him to know and have this confidence that He can do what He says; that His
words are true and amen.

II Corinthians 3:17: Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty.

John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives
do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither, let it be afraid…..”

John 15:11: “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy many remain in you, and
that your joy may be full.”

Isaiah 61:1-2: “The Spirit of the
Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has
anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the
brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to
those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD
,….

This is wonderful meat for us to remember, but we must get into the core of this
lesson….demons.

None of us are immune to the ambushes of satan and his demons. When we fully
understand the Scriptures it tells us we are in a battle and satan is after our soul; to
kill and destroy you; whatever it takes.
Ephesians 6:12 tells us this as well as in I
Peter 5:8
and John 10:10:

Ephesians 6:12: For
we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

I Peter 5:8: be sober, be vigilant; because
your adversary the devil walks about like
a roaring lion
, seeking whom he may devour.

John 10:10: “The
thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I
have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

If you are asking, ‘How can I resist temptations? The answers are in the same
Scriptures as well as many others. In
Ephesians 6:13-18 the answer is:

Therefore take up the whole armor (not just part) of God (He gave His all through His Son
Jesus)
, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand. Stand, therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the
breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the
gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to
quench all
(not some but all) the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of
salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with
all prayer and supplication in the Spirit
(that heavenly, God-given language which only God
hears)
, being watchful (observant, attentive, wide awake) to this end with all perseverance
(insistence, urgency, determination) and supplication for all the saints-

And in I Peter 5:8 he says: Be sober (clear-headed, restrained) vigilant (watchful,
alert, cautious). Also in John 10:10 Jesus, Himself tells us that He (I) have come that
they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. There is no
stuttering in His words just total power and authority.

Now let us get into the meat of our message today. The most frequent asked
questions about demons are:

1)        Are demons real?
2)        Are they here on earth today?
3)        Who are they?
4)        Where did they come from?
5)        How do I recognize them?

I will answer the best way possible. I urge all to study for yourselves, asking the
Holy Spirit to give you greater understanding so you understand what is happening
when you are attacked and how to recognize and fight them.

To answer the first question: Are demons real; the answer is yes. They are very real
and their object is to confuse, deceive, oppress and if you allow a door to be
opened possess you. The home for demons is called ‘the pit’. In the 8th chapter of
Luke it talks about the man who lived in the tombs because of the many demons
that possessed him and drove him to violent behavior (Luke 8:26-36). In Luke 8:31
the demons  spoke to Jesus begging Him not to send them back to the deep, the
abyss or the pit; depending on which translation of the Word you are reading.

Luke 8:31: And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the
abyss.
(New Spirit Filled Life Bible)

Luke 8:31: And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into
the deep.
(The King James Version)

Luke 8:31: they kept begging Him not to order them into the Bottomless Pit. (The
Living Bible)

The Greek word used here is Abussos (Ab’-us-sos) # 12 meaning: Abyss, deep
(bottomless)
Pit.

Do they roam the earth today? Sorry to say the answer is yes. Demons are
disembodied spirits roaming around looking for open doors. There are probably
millions of demons around looking for a body to possess. This sounds very scary
and I hope it scares the pants off us all so we will be very careful not to open
doors. This is also proved out through the Word of God.

Luke 11:24-26: “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry
places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house form
which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he
goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they
enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”

The Greek word for ‘house’ in this verse is oikos (oy’-kos) # 3624 meaning: Uncertain
dwelling, home, house, temple.

In I Corinthians 3:16 our body is called the temple of God.

Do you not know that you are the temple (house where God dwells) of God and that the
Spirit of God dwells in you?

Before answering the last two questions about demons let us see some facts about
them:

1) Demons are disembodied spirits which roam around seeking a body to inhabit.

Mark 5:2-9: And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out
of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs;
and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been
bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and
the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. …

2) Demons are so many they can make you think satan is all powerful, knowing and
present everywhere….which is false!

Luke 8:30: Jesus asked him, saying, “what is your name?” And he said, “Legion,”
because many demons had entered him.

Ephesians 6:11-12: Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, against powers, against the rules of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

3) Demons cause physical and mental disease, lead people into immoral acts and
deception.
Notice* Not all illness is demonic.

Matthew 12:22: Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and
mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
(Physical)

Acts 8:7: ….For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who
were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.
(Physical
Affliction)

Luke 8:38-39,42: Suddenly a man from the multitude cried out, saying, “Teacher, I
implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child. And behold, a spirit seizes him,
and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth; and it
departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him”.…And as he was still coming,
the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean
spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.
(Mental)

I Timothy 4:1-4: Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart
from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking
lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to
marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received
with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of
God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is
sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
(Immoral acts and deception)

4) Demons encourage idolatry; some have power to do deceptive miracles.

I Corinthians 10:20: Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they
sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with
demons.

Revelation 13:12-15: And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his
presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast,
whose deadly wound was healed. He performs great signs, so that he even makes
fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives
those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the
sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the
beast who was wounded by the sword and lived…..

5) Demons are territorial:

a)        Demon possession means they occupy a human body; opposite of a Christian
being filled with the Holy Spirit. These demons enter only willing vessels who have
opened a door to demonic influence. I truly do not believe a Christian can be
possessed by demons.

Acts 16:18: Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl
possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit
by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men
are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.”
And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the
spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her,” and he
came out that very hour.

I John 5:18: We know that whoever is born of God does not sin, but he who has
been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

b)        Demons work outside the body by temptations, oppression, intimidation, and
suggestive thoughts. Their objective is to hinder or stop the purpose of God by
discouragement and deception.

John 10:10: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I
have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

II Corinthians 11:3: But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his
craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Ephesians 4:27, 29-31: ….nor give place to the devil….Let no corrupt word proceed
out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart
grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were
sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil
speaking be put away from you, will all malice.

6) Demons recognize the existence of God and fear him.

James 2:19: “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons
believe-and tremble!

7) Demons can speak and know that Jesus is the only Begotten Son of God.

Mark 1:23-24: Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And
he cried out, saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of
Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are-the Holy One of God!”

Luke 4:41: and demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the
Christ, the Son of God!” And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for
they knew that He was the Christ.

8) Demons persuade people to sin.

Acts 5:3-4: But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy
Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained,
was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have
you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

9) Demons are stronger than humans.

Mark 5:2-4: ….there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had
his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains,
because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had
been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone
tame him.

10) Demons can speak to our minds and through false prophets.

I Timothy 4:1: Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from
the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits
(listening as they spoke lies) and doctrines of
demons.

I John 4:1: Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they
are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

11) We have authority over satan and all demons:

Psalm 91:13: You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the
serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

12) Jesus has prepared a place for us, where demons cannot come:

John 14:2-3: ….I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for
you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be
also.

Remember: No matter how good it sounds or who is talking to you if what you hear
puts a check in your spirit do not ignore it! Search it out to see where the truth or
corruption lies. I believe that demons will tell you a thousand truths to cause you to
believe one lie they slipped in the middle.

We have answered the first three questions and I think we will stop and put this
message in two parts; there is just so much to think about and absorb.

Blessings to all
